From October 8 to 11, 2018, the 18th IEEE International Conference on Communication Technology was held in Chongqing.

The conference was jointly sponsored by China communication society and China Electronics Society from 1986. It is an international event in the field of information and communication technology research, and has a high academic influence. The conference was sponsored by IEEE, School of Microelectronics and Communication Engineering of Chongqing University, CO sponsored by Chongqing Institute of Electronics, University of Electronic Science and technology of Xi'an University of Electronic Science and technology, and co sponsored by China Society of electronics, China Communications Society, Chongqing Institute of Telecommunications and Communications, Sichuan Institute of Electronics, Sichuan University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Southwest University. More than 200 experts and scholars from more than 60 universities and research institutions in China, including University of Electronic Science and technology, Southeast University, Xi'an University of Electronic Science and technology, Beijing University of Posts and telecommunications, and nearly 20 overseas researchers attended the meeting.

The opening ceremony of the conference was held at 9 a.m. on October 9. Professor Yang Dan, vice president of Chongqing University; Professor Tan Xiaoheng, vice president (chair work) of School of microelectronics and communication engineering, Chongqing University; Professor Tian Fengchun, School of microelectronics and communication engineering, Chongqing University; Prof. Luo Jiangtao, Executive Deputy Secretary General of Chongqing Institute of electronics; Professor Leng supeng, vice president of School of communication and information engineering, University of Electronic Science and technology of China Professor Zou Xihua, vice president of School of information science and technology of South Jiaotong University, Professor Gu Huaxi of Xi'an University of Electronic Science and technology attended the ceremony, and Professor Liu Min, vice president of School of microelectronics and communication engineering of Chongqing University, presided over the meeting. On behalf of the school, Yang Dan delivered a welcome speech to the experts and representatives attending the meeting, expressing a warm welcome to all the scholars. Tan Xiaoheng and Tian Fengchun also delivered passionate speeches respectively, expressing their expectations for the success of the conference.

After the opening ceremony, six domestic and foreign experts, including OSA fellow & SPIE fellow, Professor Shum Ping of Nanyang Polytechnic University of Singapore, IEEE fellow, Dr. Sumei sun of Singapore Institute of information and communication, Professor Li Jianqiang of Macao University of science and technology, Professor Feng Gang of University of Electronic Science and technology of Macao, Professor Zhang Yan of University of Oslo in Norway and Dr. Zhang Lei of Chongqing University made special presentations.

The conference papers cover network and wireless communication, VLSI and system design, information hiding and digital watermarking, multimedia, network information security, RF front-end circuits and systems, intelligent mobile device design, coding and signal processing, wearable technology, micro wave / millimeter wave / terahertz circuits and systems, Internet of things and big data, computer vision and artificial intelligence, 5g communication and network, green communication system, communication equipment modeling, electromagnetic compatibility antenna design, etc. A total of 462 abstracts were received, and 277 papers were finally accepted through full-text review, including 221 oral reports and 56 posters. Five sub venues were set up to give oral reports, with a total of 18 sessions, which actively exchanged the latest progress in the field of information and communication.

The conference conducted in-depth discussion and Research on international key and hot cutting-edge science and technology, provided a platform for young scholars and older generation scientists to communicate with each other, promoted mutual communication between domestic and foreign universities, and strengthened the contact between academic and industrial circles. After the agenda, the conference also organized the participants to visit the main scientific research platforms of Chongqing University's School of microelectronics and communication engineering, Chongqing University, and extensively publicized the talent introduction policy of Chongqing University in the interval of the meeting, showing the style and features of the University and the college, which is believed to have left a deep impression on the participants.
